Pencil Artist

Self-taught, I have drawn and painted all my life ~ mostly for my own pure enjoyment.
I have exhibited and been a prize winner at the British Society of Painters and the
International Guild of Artists exhibitions in Ilkley.

I have had three very major spine surgeries and now really struggle as the chronic pain I am left with
severely limits my time at the easel.

(See my spine/scoliosis story page)

I work predominantly with Caran D'Ache Luminence, Prismacolor and Faber Castell Polychromos
coloured pencils, these being my three favourites.  I also love to work in graphite.

I have found nothing equals pencils for precision in detail such as animal coat textures and expressions, especially in the eyes.

I feel very strongly about coloured pencil becoming accepted as a fine art medium and sincerely
hope they will eventually achieve the popularity and acceptability they already have in America.

I have paintings in private collections in the UK, Australia, Europe and America.
